![]() Phaedra was a freaking joke and was one of the least threatening Colossus in the whole game. ![]() I seriously reset my PS2 because I thought a loading error occured. I almost gave up and I thought that the devs made a cruel joke here or that my game was broken. ![]() I needed more than an hour before I landed my first hit. When I first saw him, I thought "Neat, a Horse? I bet I will need to shoot him down with arrows while riding Agro" but no, this was so annoying. This god damn Colossus was the most annoying thing in the whole game. Or: She would wake up and would react like the ressurected dead from Stephen King's Pet Sematary and my whole work would be for nothing. So I came up with how it might end: After beating the 16th Colossus, Mono would wake up, everything will seem fine and dandy but in reality, the ghost of the Colossi I killed would posses her and she would kill me while hugging me. You have no idea what the hell you are doing here.". Every time after I beat a Colossus, the shadows that would surround me would try to give me a "You fool. The whole sealed land gave me the feeling that I was not welcome and that it is a cursed land. Sidenote: At this point in the game, I was sure that things will turn out badly. However, I didn't feel really satisfied from killing him, because he looked like a mentally handicaped Colossus. It took me some time to figure out how to get rid of his armor and just like Valus, Gaius managed to kill me a few times. Honestly, I thought that he was the special needs Colossus but I know that you guys like his design. When I first saw Gaius, he immediately reminded me of a retard or idiot. I needed about 10 tries until I finally made it to the big platform. This was one of my quickest kills in the entire playthrough. Anyway, I went to fight the second Colossus and was surprised how easy he was to kill. So I googled what to do and found out that the Sword is there to help me, so I reset. Then I went a little north and I discovered the cave of Barba and thought that I made it, just to find out that no Colossus would appear. The Bull - Ok, I have to admit that I still didn't know that the sword guides me to the next colossus, so I went south again and spend the next 2 hours looking for the next colossus like the idiot I am. For me, the looks, the way to kill it and just the whole presentation for the first Colossus was PERFECT.Īfter I killed him, I wandered through the shrine and looked at the other statues and was disappointed that I will have to fight snake-like creatures and that there was no three-headed dog or something like that in the game. I died to the first Colossus about 15 or so times - more than on any other Colossus. Also: I did not use any guides to get through the game except for once. The Viking - yes, I will give you the names I gave to the Colossi when playing through. However, I was a little unfamiliar with the controls, so it took me some tries to get up to the first Colossus. Without even knowing that I could use my sword to tell me where to find the Colossus I had to fight, I went straight south and found my target immediately. I was scared of one thing only: That this game will have an abundance of different weapons, that it would be way too complex to navigate through because the devs put too much stuff in it. The intro cutscene did impress me and I had so many questions but knew that they would all be answered as I progress to the game (lol). The only reason why I didn't play it before was because I have heard that the PS2 copy was an expensive collector's item and because I thought that it could wait.Ībout two weeks ago, out of nowhere, I suddenly thought to myself "Isn't Shadow of the Colossus a game I wanted to play and never had any time to do so but now I could?". It's not just a game, it's a piece of art. Those Colossi didn't really do anything to you to deserve it Before playing it for the first time, all I knew about SotC was: I have heard about it here and there that it is supposedly a great game with unique visuals and artstyle. I wanted to play Shadow of the Colossus for a long time. ![]()
